Kanagawa cops: 2 dead, 2 severely injured in head-on collision

KANAGAWA (TR) – A head-on collision in Yokosuka City where one of the cars caught fire left two dead and two severely injured, police said on Sunday.

A male driver in his 50s crossed over the center road line and crashed head-on with an oncoming car at around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, TV Asahi reports (Dec. 11).

The male driver died from burns to his entire body after his car caught fire, and a 51-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the oncoming car was killed after suffering blunt force trauma, police said.

A 38-year-old woman who was sitting in the passenger seat of the male driver’s car also suffered burns to her entire body.

Police are investigating why the male driver veered from his lane.
