SHIZUOKA (TR) – Shizuoka Prefectural Police have applied fresh charges to a 33-year-old man who has now been accused of murder in the killing of two male acquaintances whose dismembered bodies were found earlier this year at a lake in Hamamatsu City, reports Nippon News Network (Dec. 8).

In the latest case, police on Thursday accused Tatsuya Kawasaki of murder and robbery in the death of 63-year-old Atsushi Sudo. A number of his bones were found along a shore of Okuhamana Lake in August. He had gone missing in January of this year.

In July, Kawasaki withdrew money from an account belonging to Sudo, police said.

Kawasaki also faces murder charges in the stabbing death of Yuto Demachi, a 32-year-old factory worker from Bibai City, Hokkaido Prefecture. The victim is believed to have been killed inside an apartment in Iwata City sometime around July 5.

Kawasaki then allegedly dismembered Demachi’s body and scattered the remains along a different shore of the same lake at some point over the next several days.

Security camera footage taken in Hamamatsu and Iwata showed Demachi in the presence of Kawasaki. A search of the apartment in Iwata, which Kawasaki had rented, revealed blood that has been confirmed to belong to Demachi.
