‘Foul smell’ leads Saitama cops to 2 corpses in home

SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police are investigating a case that likely included at least one suicide following the discovery of two corpses in a residence in Koshigaya City, reports TV Asahi (Dec. 3).

At around 11:00 a.m. on Friday, an employee of a residential management company alerted police after observing “a foul smell coming from inside an apartment.” Officers arriving at the residence found what are likely the bodies of a woman, aged in her 80s, and that of her son, aged in his 50s.

The body of the woman did not have any external wounds. However, the male corpse had gash marks around the neck. A knife was found nearby.

Police suspect that that the woman died of an unknown cause and her son committed suicide by stabbing himself.
