Gunma cops: Elderly driver seriously injures woman, son at crossing

GUNMA (TR) – An elderly driver hit and seriously injured a woman and her son crossing a crosswalk in Takasaki City, police said on Thursday.

Yasu Kobayashi, 76, was arrested on suspicion of negligent driving resulting in injury for hitting Yasuko Yamashita, 34, and her 1-year-old son at around 9:30 a.m., TBS News reports (Dec. 2).

Kobayashi has admitted to the charges, quoted by police as saying she “hit them and caused them to suffer injuries.”

Yamashita and her son were rushed to a hospital after suffering strong blows to their heads, police said.
