NAGANO (TR) – Nagano Prefectural Police have revealed that footprints found near the discovery of male corpse earlier this week match those left behind at a separate crime from three months before, reports Nippon News Network (Nov. 30).

On Sunday, a leg and torso of Yayoi Saito, a 36-year-old resident of Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, were discovered buried in a field in the village of Minamimaki.

Investigators later learned that footprints found at the field match those discovered at the scene of a murder in Kofu. On August 17, the body of Toshio Wakamiya, a 73-year-old head of a real estate company, was found collapsed in the entrance of his one-floor home.

Wakamiya had suffered stab wounds to the abdomen and injuries to his head. After being transported to a nearby hospital, he died five hours later due to shock caused by loss of blood.

Police believe that the same persons are behind both cases.

Saito traded in precious metals. His office, located in the town of Showa, was found to have been ransacked on the morning his body was discovered, police said.

Police also revealed that the hands of Saito’s body showed signs of having been bound. They suspect that he was buried alive.
