Chiba cops: Drunk dentist punches taxi driver, dodges fare

CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police have arrested a 34-year-old dentist for allegedly assaulting an elderly taxi driver in Mobara City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Nov. 27).

At around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, dentist Katsutoshi Inagaki exited the cab of the driver, 68, near his residence, located in the Yamoto area, without paying the fare of 1,800 yen.

When the driver complained, the suspect, who was drunk at the time, punched him in the face before fleeing the scene.

Inagaki, who has been charged with assault, was quoted by police as saying he doesn’t remember anything about the incident. “Since I don’t remember anything, I have nothing to say,” the suspect is quoted by the Mobari Police Station, according to Fuji News Network (Nov. 28).

The driver suffered light injuries to his face in the incident.
