HIROSHIMA (TR) – Hiroshima Prefectural Police have arrested a 62-year-old man after a body likely belonging to his wife was found in their residence in Fukuyama City, reports Nippon News Network (Nov. 27).

On November 26, police arrested Keiji Nagasawa, a security guard, after a corpse was found in a second-floor room of the residence, located in the Higashi-Kawaguchicho area.

Nagasawa, who has been charged with abandoning a corpse, denies the charges. “I didn’t know a corpse was there,” the suspect is quoted by police.

According to police, the suspect’s wife died at the end of September. Nagasawa and his wife are the only occupants of the residence.

On the same day that Nagasawa was arrested, the couple’s son alerted police after arriving at the residence and finding the body upstairs.

Police are now working to confirm the identity of the body.
