FUKUOKA (TR) – A man forced his 3-month-old baby girl’s leg against the wall until her thigh bone broke because she wouldn’t stop crying, police said on Saturday.

Fukuoka Prefectural Police arrested Taihei Maeda, 29, on Saturday over the suspected abuse of his daughter at around 5:45 a.m. on October 4 at their residence in Fukuoka City, the Asahi Shimbun reports (Nov. 19).

Maeda has admitted to the charges, quoted by police as saying he “was stressed out from work. I ended up inflicting violence on her because I couldn’t get her to stop crying.”

Police were alerted to the suspected abuse by a doctor who detected abnormalities in the baby’s leg when her mother took her to a hospital on October 7 because she was “having trouble peeing.”

The baby suffered injuries requiring a month of recovery, police said, adding Maeda and his wife also have a 2-year-old daughter.
