SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police are investigating what is believed to have been a murder-suicide after the bodies of an elderly woman and her son were found in two locations in Saitama City, reports TBS News (Nov. 17).
At around 2 a.m. on Thursday, a man telephoned emergency services to report that his wife had been stabbed at their residence, located in Minuma Ward.
Officers arriving at the scene found Mieko Kuroda, 68, lying atop a bed on the second floor with stab wounds to her chest. She was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.
About 20 minutes later, the couple’s son, 44-year-old Yasunori, was found collapsed with severe head injuries on the premises of an apartment building located about 100 meters away. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
Police suspect that Yasunori stabbed his mother to death before taking his own life by jumping from the building.
