HOKKAIDO (TR) – Following the discovery of the body of a 23-year-old female employee at a hospital inside her residence in Sapporo earlier this week, Hokkaido Prefectural Police on Tuesday launched a murder investigation, reports TV Asahi (Nov. 8).
At around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, a co-worker of Ayumi Kimura alerted emergency services after finding her body in the bathtub of the third-floor residence in Nishi Ward.
The results of an autopsy conducted on the body of revealed that she died due to suffocation, officers from the officers from the Sapporo-Nishi Police Station said on Tuesday.
Investigators added that the body of Kimura did not exhibit any external wounds. She is believed to have died two or three days prior to the discovery, according to TV Asahi (Nov. 8).
Kimura lived alone. Two colleagues visited her residence after she did not show up for work on Saturday.
