HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police have opened a murder investigation after an elderly woman was found stabbed to death at her residence in Hakodate City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Nov. 3).

At 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, an employee at a nursing home found Tomoko Kishida, 68, collapsed face-down and bleeding at the door of the kitchen of the residence, located in the Nishiasahiokacho area.

Kishida had stab wounds to the left, right and back of her head.

The results of an autopsy revealed that she died within a few hours of the discovery.

At the time of the incident, the front door was locked but the back door was not.

According to Fuji News Network (Nov. 2), Kishida’s husband entered a nursing home several days before the incident. A nurse from the facility visiting the residence made the discovery.
