TOKYO (TR) – The Tokyo District Court on Friday announced the non-prosecution of a 36-year-old woman accused in a tear gas incident, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 28).

The court did not provide a reason for dropping the case against Yumiko Tsukakoshi, who had been charged with spraying commuters on a platform at Seibu Takadanobaba Station with a can of tear gas on the afternoon of September 28.

However, it has been learned that Tsukakoshi has been admitted to a mental institution due to possible risk she may pose to others.

In the incident, a total of nine persons on the platform, aged between 13 and 42, received treatment for light injuries, including sore throats, at a nearby hospital.

After her arrest on October 1, Tsukakoshi denied the charges, saying she did not go to Takadanobaba Station that day.
