SAITAMA (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested two organized crime members over the dumping of more than 500 tons of industrial waste in two locations in Saitama Prefecture, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 28).

At various times earlier this year, Haruo Shimoda, 61, and Masanobu Sekiguchi, 56, both members of the Inagawa-kai, allegedly brokered deals with Fujimi Shoji for the illegal dumping of waste from demolition work at locations in Koga and Fukaya cities. Three other persons have been arrested in the case.

The suspects have been charged with violating the Waste Management Law. Sekiguchi denies the charges while Shimoda has declined to comment.

In return for brokering the deals, the suspects received a commission of 35,000 yen per load. According to Nippon News Network (Oct. 28), 10-ton trucks made 270 trips in hauling approximately 513 tons of waste.
