Tokyo cop saves injured raccoon dog on roadside

TOKYO (TR) – A member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police saved an injured raccoon dog after it was found unable to move on a roadside here on Monday.

The injured animal was found and picked up by an officer who was patrolling a street at around 11 p.m. in Chuo Ward, Tokyo, TV Asahi reports (October 24).

The raccoon dog, whose gender is unknown and measures about 70 centimeters long, had injured its hind leg, police said.

The animal will be monitored and then handed over to the Tokyo metropolitan government or returned to the wild, police said.
