AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 28-year-old male Chinese national in the killing of a woman in Kasugai City, reports TBS News (Oct. 24).

At around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, the man allegedly used a pair of scissors with 15-centimeter-long blades to slit the throat of the woman, a 32-year-old employee in the textile industry, in front of her apartment building, located in the Fujimidai.

Officers working on a tip from a colleague of the victim arrived at the scene and found the man collapsed atop the woman with wounds to his left arm and neck. He was subsequently arrested on charges of attempted murder.

The woman, also a Chinese national, was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital.

The man is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries. After he recovers, police plan change the charges against him to murder.
