TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Tuesday arrested a 50-year-old man who has admitted to abandoning the body of a former girlfriend reported missing last month, reports TBS News (Oct. 25).

On October 20, Keitaro Saga, a resident of Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, turned himself over to police in the disappearance of Shiori Nakamoto, a 24-year-old company employee living in Tokyo’s Meguro Ward.

Saga has been charged with abandoning a corpse. “After we got in a fight, I stabbed her,” the suspect is quoted. “I scattered parts of the body in a river and sent others down a drain in her apartment in dumping it.”

On September 20, Nakamoto’s company contacted police after she did not show up for work. Members of her family had been unable to contact her via her mobile phone at around that same time.

In July, the victim consulted with police about stalking by Saga, which included instances of violence, according to Jiji Press (Oct. 25).

In searching Nakamoto’s apartment, police found traces of her blood in a room.
