Osaka cops: Woman jumps to death after son found with throat slit

A teenage boy was found with his throat slit in Nishiyodogawa Ward hours before his mother jumped to her death

OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police on Monday watched a 55-year-old woman leap to her death after finding the body of her teenage son with his throat slit at an apartment building in Nishiyodogawa Ward, reports TBS News (Oct. 25).

At approximately 3:40 p.m., emergency services was tipped off about a “man collapsed and bleeding” in a corridor on the fourth floor of at the Altopino Utajima apartment building.

Emergency personnel arriving at the building later confirmed Rikiya Hidaka, 16, dead at the scene. His throat and abdomen were found to have been stabbed with a knife, according to Nippon News Network (Oct. 24).

An examination of security camera footage showed a woman with blood on her hands fleeing the building at around the time of the initial report.

About three and a half hours later, police found a woman on the seventh floor of another building located about 400 meters from where the boy’s body was found. After police requested that she give her name, she jumped to her death.

Police later confirmed that the woman was the boy’s 55-year-old mother. It is suspected that the woman killed her son before taking her own life.
