SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have launched an investigation after retrieving a male corpse wrapped in chains from a river in Yashio City, reports Fuji News Network (Oct. 21).

At just before 9:00 a.m., police received a tip about “a person floating” in the Ayase River. Officers arriving at the scene retrieved the body whose head was wrapped in chains.

The body did not exhibit any external wounds.

The location of the discovery is the border of Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture, about three kilometers from Yashio Station, which is served by the Tsukuba Express train.

Police are working to identify the body. The case is being treated as the result of foul play.
