KYOTO (TR) – Kyoto Prefectural Police have arrested a 43-year-old man after a decayed corpse belonging to a male acquaintance was found in an apartment in Kyoto’s Ukyo Ward, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 12).

Police have charged Yasuo Kubota with abandoning the corpse of 73-year-old Seiji Nakanishi, whose heavily decayed body was found in the bathtub of his residence on Tuesday afternoon by police working on a tip.

During questioning, Kubota said that he been taking care of some personal belongings of the victim. “After he made an unreasonable demand, I killed him,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Police were alerted to the scene after a person had been unable to contact Nakanishi.

After determining the cause of death through the results of an autopsy, police will consider applying murder charges to the suspect.
