FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a 33-year-old male employee of a Tokyo-based broadcaster for allegedly molesting a woman in Fukuoka City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Oct. 10).

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Monday, Daisuke Chiba, an employee in the sports department at Tokyo Metropolitan Television Broadcasting (Tokyo MX), allegedly fondled the full body of the woman, 33, inside a building in Chuo Ward.

Chiba, who has been charged with indecent assault, denies the charges. “I touched her body, but I did not commit an obscene act,” the suspect is quoted.

Prior to the incident, the suspect and victim went to dinner in what was their first meeting. After finishing, the woman indicated to Chiba that she had another appointment as the two walked outside.

The suspect, who was drunk at the time, then forced her into the building and committed the allegedly crime. After the incident, the woman reported Chiba to police.

Through Sunday, Chiba had been in Fukuoka to cover the Climax Series between the Softbank Hawks and Chiba Lotte Marines at Yahoo Dome.

“This is truly regrettable, and we would like to offer a profound apology,” a representative of Tokyo MX is quoted.  “After confirming the facts, we will deal with the matter strictly.”
