Tokyo cops: Woman stabs landlord to death

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her landlord to death in Nerima Ward over a rent dispute, reports Fuji News Network (Oct. 8).

At around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Mika Kato is alleged to have stabbed  Shozo Honma, 69, to death in the abdomen with a knife at the apartment she rents in the Yahara area.

Honma’s wife, 65, suffered injuries to her head due to blows delivered by a wrench in the incident. She is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital,.

Kato, who has been charged with attempted murder, admits to the allegations.

According to police, the suspect and victim had gotten into a dispute over unpaid rent dating back four months.

Police are now investigating whether to change the charges against Kato to murder.
