EHIME (TR) – Kochi Prefectural Police have arrested two men in the abandonment of a body believed to be a male acquaintance in the town of Tobe, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 5).

Around June 25 of last year, Mizuho Sakoda and Eiji Hatake, both 41 and from Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, are alleged to have worked together to bury a body believed to be a male acquaintance, aged in his 40s from the town of Tosa, Kochi, in a mountainous area.

On Monday, the two suspects turned themselves over to the Kochi-Higashi Police Station. During questioning, the two men revealed the location of the body, which was found by police on Tuesday afternoon. The suspects have been charged with abandoning a corpse.

Police are now working to confirm the identity of the body and apply murder charges to the suspects, according to Fuji News Network.
