TOKYO (TR) – A 36-year-old woman who is in custody over a tear gas incident at Takadanobaba Station last month has told police that she committed the crime after having been targeted by “a groper,”reports Fuji News Network (Oct. 3).
Yumiko Tsukakoshi, a resident of Nerima Ward, told police that she targeted the neck of a 32-year-old man with tear gas on a platform of the Seibu Shinjuku Line at Seibu Takadanobaba Station on September 28 at around 5:35 p.m. “He resembled a groper from a previous incident so I sprayed him,” the suspect is quoted.
A total of nine persons on the platform, aged between 13 and 42, received treatment for light injuries, including sore throats, at a nearby hospital following the incident.
On Monday, Tsukakoshi, who claims to be employed in the entertainment industry, was prosecuted on suspicion of assault. She previously told police that she did not go to Takadanobaba Station on that day in denying the allegations.
Tsukakoshi became a person of interest for police after an examination of security camera footage.
