AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 34-year-old man over an assault incident at a convenience store in Toyota City that left two persons injured, reports Asahi Shimbun (Oct. 3).

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Akitoshi Kimura, a resident of Toyota, allegedly stabbed a 27-year-old man in the arm with a knife. The victim, who was not acquainted with the perpetrator, had been out jogging with his girlfriend.

After the victim’s girlfriend fled to a nearby convenience store, Kimura followed. He then assaulted three female customers, a woman, 29, her mother-in-law, 48, and her 6-year-old daughter. The 29-year-old woman suffered slight injuries to her head.

The suspect was apprehended by two male customers at the convenience store. Police arriving at the scene arrested Kimura on charges of attempted murder. He has declined to comment on the allegations.

The incident started when Kimura exited a vehicle and asked the joggers to go drinking. After they refused, a fight between the two men began.
