TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 27-year-old man who has been accused of luring a woman out to meet him by falsely claiming to have concert tickets for sale in order to rob her, reports TBS News (Sept. 30).

On September 22, Narumi Adachi, a resident of Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, allegedly met the woman, 43, on a street in Taito Ward after he posted an advertisement on an internet bulletin board site in which he falsely claimed to be selling tickets to all-boy idol group Kinki Kids.

Adachi then showed the woman the text “hand over money if you don’t want to get stabbed” on his smartphone screen as he held a knife. The suspect then grabbed the woman’s handbag but dropped it after the woman screamed. He subsequently fled the scene empty-handed.

Adachi, who has been charged with attempted robbery, admits to the allegations. “I was troubled by money,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Police tracked down the suspect via a phone number provided by the victim.
