AICHI (TR) – Police arrested a man for allegedly trying to murder his brother with a katana, or Japanese sword, during an argument at a gathering in Nishio City, Nippon News Network reported on Sunday (October 2).

Kazuhiko Inoue, 48, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly slashing his 44-year-old brother’s face and arms with a 50-centimeter-long sword at around 11:40 p.m. on Saturday on a road outside Inoue’s residence.

Inoue has admitted to the charges, police said.

The brother’s wife called police, who arrested Inoue at the scene. The brother was rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Inoue was hosting a family gathering with relatives at his home when an argument broke out with his brother, TV Asahi quoted police as saying.
