KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural Police arrested two men on Friday for trespassing in a hospital in Yokohama which is in the national spotlight over the possible poisoning murders of two elderly patients.
Hajime Yamazaki, 46, a writer for weekly magazine Spa!, and Ryota Shimizu, 20, a university student, were arrested on suspicion of trespassing after a nurse at Oguchi Hospital reported seeing them at around 5:10 p.m. holding smartphones on the fourth floor, where two elderly patients were possibly poisoned and murdered, the Sankei Shimbun reports (September 30).
Yamazaki and Shimizu have admitted to the charges, police said, quoting them as saying they “trespassed in the hospital to take pictures.”
A 73-year-old security guard rushed to the scene and pinned down Shimizu, while a male hospital worker restrained Yamazaki who subsequently came up to the fourth floor.
Fusosha Publishing Inc., which publishes Spa!, confirmed Yamazaki was a writer for the weekly and said in a statement that the suspect would “be dealt with after the facts are confirmed.”
