TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested three persons for allegedly robbing and beating a man at a hotel in Shinjuku Ward, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Sept. 20).

On June 30 at 6:30 a.m., Arisa Imai, 25, Tomokazu Shiroishi, 35, and Yoshihiko Iida, 38, conspired to beat a 46-year-old man in the head and back with an umbrella and steal 600,000 yen in cash while inside a room of a hotel in the Yotsuya area.

All of the suspects, who have been charged with assault and robbery, admit to the initial charge but deny taking any money, according to the Yotsuya Police Station.

The victim suffered injuries that required two weeks to heal.

Imai had previously asked the victim for money. On the day of the incident, she invited him to the hotel under the guise that she would like to obtain a loan.

After the victim entered the hotel room, he was overtaken by the other two suspects, according to TV Asahi (Sept. 20). The suspects then stripped off his clothing and assaulted him. They also demanded that he hand over “all of his belongings.”
