KYOTO (TR) – Police arrested a woman here on Saturday for allegedly beating her 4-month-old boy’s head against the floor until he went into cardiac arrest with a brain blood clot because she “snapped when he was crying.”

Kyoto police arrested Miyu Kira, 21, on suspicion of bodily injury for assaulting her 4-month-old boy including slamming his head against the floor at around 4 p.m. at her residence on September 28, 2015, causing severe injuries including acute subdural hematoma as well as cardiac arrest, the Sankei Shimbun reports (September 24).

Kira has admitted to the charges, telling police she “carried out assault that includes slamming his head against the floor really hard.”

“I snapped when he was crying,” Kira was quoted by TV Asahi as telling police.

Police said Kira called for an ambulance on the day of the assault, claiming “something’s wrong with my baby.”

The boy was immediately hospitalized under cardiopulmonary arrest and still remains unconscious, police said.
