Tokyo cops hunt for man in ¥180,000 convenience store robbery

TOKYO (TR) – A manhunt is under way for a knife-wielding man who barged into a convenience store here on Friday and snatched 180,000 yen in cash, police said.

Tokyo police said a knife-wielding man barged into a Sunkus convenience store in Kita-Ueno, Taito Ward, at around 5 a.m. and threatened a male 25-year-old cashier at knifepoint to “hand over the money, and make it quick” before fleeing with some 180,000 yen in cash, TV Asahi reports (September 23).

The male suspect in his 20s was last seen wearing a mask dressed in all-black clothes including a hat, police said.

The convenience store was empty at the time of the robbery and no employees were harmed.
