TOKYO (TR) – Three men were hospitalized after a gas tank exploded while a stall was being set up for a Japan-Korea cultural exchange event here on Saturday, police said.

Police responded to emergency calls reporting that “something exploded” at around 11 a.m. on Saturday at Hibiya Park in Chiyoda Ward, TBS News reports (September 24).

A tube connecting a gas tank to a burner came loose when a stall was being set up and caught fire, causing an explosion that lightly injured three men in their 30s to 40s who were nearby, police said.

A witness told TBS News that they saw “people running over here. Then I saw black smoke.”
