TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly slitting his female neighbor’s throat last month because she complained he was being too noisy, reports TBS News (Sept. 18).

Police arrested Dai Hiraoka, 30, on suspicion of murder for allegedly using a knife to slash the throat of his 79-year-old neighbor Kazuyo Tada in her apartment in Nishi-Tokyo City on August 1.

“There was trouble with Tada leading up to the incident,” Hiraoka told police. “I got yelled at, which made me snap. I took a knife from my residence and went over and killed her.”

At around 7:00 p.m. on August 2, Hiraoka arrived at Tanashi Police Station and told officers that he “found” Tada’s body inside the residence. He added that he sensed something was wrong when he found her door open.

Officers arriving at the scene found Tada lying face-up in the kitchen with a gash in her neck. The suspect later said that he discarded the knife used in the crime, police said.
