Kanagawa cops: 1 dead, 2 injured after murder-suicide attempt

KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectural police are investigating what is believed to have been a murder-suicide at a family residence in Kawasaki City that left one person dead and two others injured, reports TBS News (Sept. 18).

At 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, police working on a tip found 43-year-old Koji Kobari collapsed and bleeding at the entrance of the residence, located in the Showa area of Kawasaki Ward. Officers also found a woman believed to be his mother seated and bleeding from her head.

A man believed to be Kobari’s father, aged in his 70s, then emerged from behind a wall carrying a knife and with a wound to his abdomen. He had a wound to his abdomen. “I stabbed (them),” he said. “I also want to die.”

Kobari was confirmed dead at 12:45 p.m. after being transported to a hospital. Police plan to question his father and mother about the incident after they recover from their injuries.
