IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s corpse in a river in Inashiki City, reports Fuji News Network (Sept. 19).
At around 7:00 on Sunday, a fisherman tipped off police about “what appears to be a woman’s body floating” in the Tone River.
Officers arriving at the scene found the woman, believed to be aged between 50 and 80, floating face-down in the river. The woman, who has gray hair, was wearing black pants and a gray short-sleeve shirt.
The body did not have any external wounds.
Police, who are treating the case as either the result of foul play or an accident, are working to identify the woman.
