HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police have arrested an organized crime boss for allegedly concealing his affiliation in purchasing a vehicle in Osaka, reports Nippon News Network (Sept. 15).

In June of 2014, Hirofumi Fujioka, a boss of the Seijin-kai, a third-tier gang of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, did not recognize his “dealings with anti-social forces” in entering into a contract for the purchase of a vehicle at a dealership in Izumisano City.

As a part of the investigation, police raided the headquarters of the Yamaken-gumi, the top organization of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, and a gang-affiliated office in Osaka’s Sakai City.

Police also arrested gang member Minoru Munisai, whose name was actually used to purchase the vehicle. Both suspects have declined to comment on the allegations.

Law enforcement has been intensifying its monitoring of the activities of the Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi, which formed last year after the split of the Yamaguchi-gumi. Police are concerned about the escalation of an ongoing turf war between the two gangs since the Yamaguchi-gumi dissolution.
