KANAGAWA (TR) – Kanagawa Prefectuaral Police on Tuesday apprehended a 53-year-old man armed with a knife who barricaded himself inside a unit of an apartment building in Yokohama, reports TBS News (Feb. 15).

At approximately 3:00 p.m., officials from the Yokohama District Court arrived at the third-floor residence of Masaki Danjo to evict him. “If you enter I’ll blow this place up,” said Danjo as he thrust a knife at the officers. He then shut himself inside.

About three hours later, about 50 members of special police tactical unit surrounded the residence and forced their way inside. Danjo was apprehendd on suspicion of interfering with the execution of the duties of a public servant.

Court officials were evicting Danjo over unpaid rent.
