CHIBA (TR) – Chiba Prefectural Police on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old woman after a dismembered corpse, likely that of her younger brother, was found in her residence in the town of Shisui, reports Nippon News Network (Sept. 13).

Police have charged Emi Takeuchi, who shares the residence with her brother, 21-year-old Ryo, with the destruction and abandonment of a corpse. “I cut up my brother with a knife,” the suspect is quoted by officers from the Sakura Police Station.

Based on testimony from the woman, police seized a knife from the kitchen of the residence, located in the Inba area.

At around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, officers working off a tip entered the premises and found a head and a severed leg inside separate plastic bags in a corner of the living room. The lower part of the head was missing; the leg had been cut at the thigh. Other body parts were subsequently found in another room.

Three hours before, an acquaintance of the brother visited the residence after being unable to reach him since the end of last month. After the suspect turned the person away, the police were notified, according to TBS News (Sept. 13).

Police are now working to confirm the identity of the body.
