TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 54-year-old man who has admitted to burglarizing about 100 residences in the capital over the past year, reports TV Asahi (Sept. 8).
Last month, Kosuke Fukuda, a resident of Kita Ward, allegedly stole cash and valuables, such as 500-yen coins inside a bottle, valued at 250,000 yen, from a woman’s residence located Itabashi Ward’s Mukaihara area.
The suspect entered the first floor of the premises through an unlocked window. “It’s easy to enter apartments,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to Nippon News Network (Sept. 8). “I’ve done this about 100 times to cover rent and living expenses.”
According to police, Fukuda cruised through the streets of Toshima, Bunkyo and Nerima and wards by bicycle, his appearance concealed by sunglasses, in selecting target residences, which included wood structures and those he believed the occupants were out due to the lights being turned off.
