On March 6, Hirokazu Suzuki, 46, the first secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Jakarta, allegedly entered the corridor of the woman’s apartment and approached her door. The following day, he appeared in front of the building.

Suzuki, who has been charged with violating a law that prohibits stalking, partially denies the allegations. “There’s no doubt that I intruded, but I do not have any emotional feelings (for her),” the suspect is quoted.

On the evening of September 3, police arrested Suzuki at Narita International Airport after he disembarked from a flight from Jakarta.

According to the personnel department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the suspect began working at the embassy in October of last year. He is employed the passport issuance department.

“With the arrest of an official being extremely regrettable, we acknowledge the seriousness of the matter,” a representative of the department is quoted. “We will endeavor to thoroughly tighten discipline.”
