Tokyo cops: 2 corpses found in burned-out truck

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of two corpses inside a burned-out vehicle in Fuchu City, reports Fuji News Network (Sept. 4).

At around 1:00 a.m., police received a tip about “several explosions” taking place inside a stopped truck on fire under the Chuo Expressway in the Koremasa area.

After a fire crew extinguished the blaze around 90 minutes later, two corpses were found inside the burned-out rear container of the truck. Due to extensive burns, the genders of the bodies of were not known.

The truck did not have a license plate. However, police later determined that the vehicle is owned by a woman. Police suspect that the bodies belong to the woman and her husband.

Police are treating the case as the result of foul play or a double suicide.
