YOKOHAMA (TR) – A manager of an affiliate of media conglomerate Yomiuri Group, which operates the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan’s largest newspaper, was arrested in Yokohama on Saturday for allegedly punching a railway station worker while intoxicated, police said.

Kinji Ishioka, 55, a manager at the Yomiuri NTV Culture Center, was arrested for allegedly punching and lightly injuring the face of a 36-year-old male worker after he stepped off a train at JR Isogo Station at around 1:30 a.m., TBS News reports (September 3).

Ishioka was quoted as telling police he “has no recollection whatsoever of what I did at the station” because he was drunk, the Sankei Shimbun reported.

The Yomiuri NTV Culture Center released a statement saying they would “strictly handle the incident after confirming the facts.”
