Yamanashi cops open murder case after body of real estate exec found

YAMANASHI (TR) – Yamanashi Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a real estate executive in Kofu City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Aug. 18).

At around 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, a male security employee found Toshio Wakamiya, the 73-year-old head of a real estate company, collapsed in the entrance of his one-floor home, located in the Asake area, after an alarm had been triggered.

Wakamiya had suffered stab wounds to the abdomen and injuries to his head. After being transported to a nearby hospital, he died five hours later due to shock caused by loss of blood.

After discovering the body, the security employee was kicked and beaten with a rod by two men wearing face masks. They both subsequently fled the scene. The employee suffered injuries to his left hand.

Wakamiya lived by himself in the residence, which is located about two kilometers from JR Kofu Station. According to the Yomiuri Shimbun (Aug. 18), police found a broken glass window in the residence.

Police are now seeking the whereabouts of the men seen fleeing the scene of the crime.
