SHIGA (TR) – Shiga Prefectural Police have arrested two male instructors at a special coaching school over the alleged sexual abuse of a female pupil, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 18).
On February 16, a lecturer, 36, allegedly performed sexual acts with the girl inside a private room at the institution, known as a juku, or cram school. Last September, the manager of the school, 53, allegedly fondled the chest of the same girl at a hotel in Kusatsu City while knowing that she was under 18 years of age.
Both suspects, who have been charged with violating a prefectural ordinance relating the healthy upbringing of youths, deny the charges, telling officers from the Kusatsu Police Station that they did not perform sexual acts.
The lecturer teaches mathematics, while the manager is in charge of the music department. The manager claims the purpose of the visit to the hotel was for the girl to practice her speech.
The alleged crimes came to light after a relative of the girl consulted with police.
