Tochigi cops: Man stabbed mother to death

TOCHIGI (TR) – Tochigi Prefectural Police have arrested a 47-year-old male construction worker in the killing of his mother in Utsunomiya City, reports TV Asahi (Aug. 14).

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, police received a tip about a man who had stabbed his mother to death. Officers arrived at a residence in the Oyamachi area and found the body of Hana Temura, 79, collapsed with stab wounds to the stomach and back.

The woman, who lives alone at the residence, was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Police subsequent arrested Terumi Tomura, the woman’s second son, on charges of murder. “My mother said she wanted to die in since she had been living a painful,” the suspect is quoted by police, according to NHK (Aug. 14). “I thought I would make it easier for her.”

After Tomura committed the alleged crime, he visited a female acquaintance living in the same neighborhood. She then telephoned police.
