Tochigi cops nab drunk fireman in assault, robbery of woman

TOCHIGI (TR) – Tochigi Prefectural Police have arrested have arrested a 22-year-old fireman over the alleged beating and robbery of a woman in Mooka City, reports Fuji News Network (Aug. 9).

At around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Yuki Ryose, a fireman with the Mooka Fire Department, is alleged to have repeatedly kicked the woman, a 53-year-old school teacher, after she refused to lend him money in a parking lot for an internet cafe. He then stole her bag containing 40,000 yen before fleeing the scene.

The woman was not injured in the incident.

Ryose, who was heavily intoxicated at the time, denies the charges, according to TBS News (Aug. 9).

Prior to the incident, Ryose opened the door of the woman’s vehicle and made the request for money. After the suspect fled, the woman gave chase and apprehended him.
