Tokyo cops: Skeletal remains found in home

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a male corpse likely belonging to an elderly man at a residence in Nishi-Tokyo City, reports TV Asahi (Aug. 8).

On Sunday at around 8:00 a.m., a woman entered the residence and found the skeletal remains likely belonging to her father, aged in his 80s. Police suspect that the person had been dead for at least one month.

The whereabouts of the woman’s brother, who shares the residence with his father, are unknown. Police suspect that he has knowledge about what led to the death of his father.

Previously, the man operated a candy store that was on the first floor of the residence.
