TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested three persons over an assault that took place in Toshima Ward earlier this year, reports TBS News (Aug. 5).

In February, Masaki Onishi, 39, and two others allegedly beat a male university student and one other person inside a tunnel at JR Ikebukuro Station. “Either pay money or be killed,” the suspects allegedly threatened. The suspects fled the scene with a wallet containing 6,000 yen.

The student suffered a broken jaw that required three months to heal.

Onishi, who was drunk at the time of the incident, denies the charges. “I don’t know anything about it,” the suspect is quoted by police.

Just prior to the incident, the suspects bumped shoulders with the victims in initiating the conflict.
