FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police on Thursday announced the dismissal of a head patrol officer after he was accused in a number of crimes against women, some of which were committed in order to make a pornographic film, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Aug. 4).

In July, police arrested Jun Kitajima, 25, on charges of attempted indecent assault after he allegedly approached a girl, 17, from behind and attempted to strip off her pants on a road in Kurume City.

That same month, Kitajima was prosecuted for using a smartphone to take tosatsu, or voyeur, footage up the skirt of a woman. Police are aware of a total of 19 similar incidents perpetrated by the suspect in Fukuoka’s Kurume and Omuta cities and Tosu City, Saga Prefecture that took place between April and June.

“I’ve seen adult video films in which a woman walking on a street has her skirt upturned and her underwear filmed,” the suspect is quoted by police. “I thought I would make my own.”

Yasunori Kondo, the chief inspector at the headquarters of the Fukuoka Prefectural Police, offered an apology to the victims and local residents. “We will spare no effort in restoring confidence through thorough moral education,” Kondo said.
