FUKUOKA (TR) – Fukuoka Prefectural Police have arrested a former organized crime member after the discovery of guns and ammunition at his residence in Fukuoka City, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Aug. 3).

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, officers from the Sawara Police Station found one revolver and 10 bullets inside a futon in the residence of Jun Itaya, a 58-year-old former upper-level gang member. Police later found another pistol and 62 bullets in the home, located in the Miyanoura area of Nishi Ward.

According to Nippon News Network (Aug. 3), Itaya, who has been charged with violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law, admits to the allegations. “They’re mine,” the former gang member is quoted.

Police are now investigating how the suspect obtained the weapons.
