OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have busted a theft ring composed of teenagers that is accused of stealing dozens of motorcycles, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Aug. 8).
Between October of 2014 and November of last year, 24 juveniles, aged between 13 and 19, allegedly stole 42 motorcycles in Higashiosaka and Daito cities. The members of the group are also alleged to have stolen a minibike and committed other random robberies related to vehicles.
The total value of the stolen property is estimated at 2.92 million yen.
“We wanted to ride recklessly as a group,” one member of the group is quoted. “So we wanted motorcycles.”
The stolen motorcycles were found on the property of a private house in Higashiosaka. A member of the group said that when a motorcycle ran out of gas they would steal another one.
